Prescott Park Arts Festivals inaugural Rhythm & Roots
Festival on Saturday, August 11
August 1, 2007
Portsmouth, NH Prescott Park Arts Festivals first ever
Rhythm & Roots Festival has a sound that ranges from Americana
to Zydeco and includes much thats in-between. It takes the
stage this Saturday, August 11, from noon to 5 PM.
Up first, The Boogaloo Swamis combine rhythmic Cajun and Zydeco
music with Rockabilly, Tex Mex, Blues and original tunes for a "hot"
musical gumbo. In the middle, The Joyce Andersen Band mixes it up
with honky-tonk, blues, cry-in-your-beer-ballads, and rocking Irish
fiddle tunes with a New Orleans beat while the band Rhythm Method
delivers a hot R&B, funky-soul sound. Rounding it all out is
acclaimed Boston singer-songwriter Tim Gearans soulful and
thought-invoking roots rock.
The PPAF Rhythm & Roots Festival is funded in part through
the generous support of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts
and PainCare Centers, Inc. of Rochester, NH. Prescott Park Arts
Festival does not charge an admission fee for any of its events
but does rely on donations given at the gate. For this festival,
the suggested donation is $8.
In the event of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, August
12.
