Local Favorites Play at Prescott Park Arts Festivals 2nd
Annual Freedom Rocks Festival
June 21, 2007
Portsmouth, NH - Prescott Park Arts Festival continues to expand
their music festival line-up and has assembled an impressive group
of musicians to fill them this season. First on the list is the
2nd Annual Freedom Rocks Festival sponsored by The Wire. Festival-goers
are invited to rock on with local favorites The Soupbone Throne,
Museum of Science, Jason Anderson, and The Minus Scale on Saturday,
June 30th from Noon to 5 PM. Sunday is a rain date.
Up first, The Soupbone Throne will have you throwing away any pre-conceived
misconceptions about Rock/Metal not being able to cohabitate with
acoustic instruments. With a genre-defying sound, and dark, mysterious,
lyrical content, the band proves that when it comes to their music,
they follow no rules. Next up, Museum of Science rips live musicianship
with self-sampled electronic loops, spur of the moment improvisation
and found sounds to create a dense, intricate but fresh and edgy
musical amalgam that blends the best elements of the hip hop, electronic,
garage band and funk genres. Then, Jason Anderson preaches the gospel
of rock James Brown style and shows us what it means to be alive.
Last, but not least, and armed with incredible talent and a stage
show that could knock you over, The Minus Scale draws its influences
from classic rock, nineties alternative and post millennium retro
rock to create a sound that is truly and uniquely their own, and
will soon become your own.
Future summer music festivals include Americana (7/7), Jazz (7/15),
Folk (7/21), Country (8/4), and Rhythm & Roots (8/11). For more
