Here's who we had last year!
2011 Prescott Park Arts Festival Showcase Festival Lineup
JON NOLAN
It's Americana pop. Good songs for people who care about good songs. Paul Kolderie (Morphine, Radiohead, Uncle Tupelo) mixed "When the Summers Lasted Long," the self-recorded, debut solo release from Jon Nolan. The end result is a timeless, honest and charming americana/pop record that chronicles Nolan's transition from youth to adulthood in the way that "Darkness'" did for Bruce. No Depression Magazine and the Boston Herald both featured the disc in their "Best Of" lists along with heavy hitters like Son Volt, Kathleen Edwards and Ryan Adams. For ten+ years, Nolan fronted Say ZuZu. They released 6 CDs, had a record deal in Europe on Germany's Blue Rose Records, and played all over 25 US states and four European countries.
MARTIN ENGLAND
Martin England is a singer/songwriter who writes and performs emotionally charged songs which carry you through the fires of love, life and loss. Mixing Americana, folk, roots rock and occassional old school country, England is the latest rising star of the Seacoast. This year, his talent was recognized with a Spotlight Award for Single of the Year.
JASON SPOONER
The ingredients behind northern New England's Jason Spooner Trio read like a bizarre musical science experiment. Start with a prolific, singer/songwriter (Jason Spooner) with heavy roots, folk & blues influences. Then mix in a classicly-trained bassist (Adam Frederick) with foundations in jazz and a knack for serious pocket grooves. Lastly, shake things up with a rock-solid drummer (Reed Chambers) with deep-seeded roots in funk, soul & reggae and you've begun to scratch the surface of this unique, energetic band.
PATTY LARKIN
Patty Larkin is part of the urban-folk/pop music phenomenon that spun of of the singer/songwriter explosion of the seventies, reinterpreting traditional folk melodies, rock, pop, bossa nova, drawing on anything from Dylan (Bob) to Dylan (Thomas). A self described "guitar driven songwriter," Larkin has wound her way through soundscapes of evocative vocals, inventive guitar wizardry and imaginative lyrics. Her songs run from impressionistic poetry to witty wordplay.
