 PORTSIDE PERCUSSIVE DANCE FESTIVAL
 Saturday, July 2, 2011 - 2 PM

Known for its intimate environment, spectacular surroundings, and great artists/faculty, the PPDF (Portside Percussive Dance Festival) became an internationally recognized dance festival, attracting students, audiences, and artists from around the country and the world.

PPDF, traditionally held the last week in June, was founded in 1995 by Driva Overton as an extension of her career as a tap dancer and producer in the neighboring waterfront communities of Kittery, Maine and Portsmouth, NH. The Seacoast home became a favorite for its venues, history, culture, and environment.

The festival is filled with intensive study and a variety of events including jam sessions, performances, films, and discussions.

SEACOAST CIVIC DANCE COMPANY
Saturday, July 23 and Saturday, August 13 - 5:30 PM

The Seacoast Civic Dance Company (SCDC) is comprised of auditioned dancers from the NH Academy of Performing Arts. Dancers range in age from 10-18 years old. Founded in 1976 by NHAPA directors, the company is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, educational organization committed to excellence in dance education coupled with professional performance opportunities. Company members are skilled and trained in a diverse curriculum of classes at NHAPA including classical ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. Well known for dynamic choreography and high energy performances, the SCDC appears at a variety of local and national venues.

GREAT BAY ACADEMY OF DANCE
Friday, August 5, 2011 - 5 PM

Great Bay Academy of Dance (GBAD) is the Seacoast's non-competitive dance education center. Our focus is on the fundamentals of dance instruction, not dance competitions. GBAD's is focused on providing a well-rounded dance education with an emphasis on ballet. From ages three and beyond, GBAD brings excellence in dance to the Seacoast with instruction in ballet, modern, hip-hop, flamenco, tap and jazz. By incorporating technique, discipline, and instruction, our students achieve confidence, presence for stage and ultimate life-artistry skills.

GBAD was established in 2009 by Elisa Gerasin and its foundation is built upon 29-years of excellence in dance education. Our most notable performance includes "An 1836 Portsmouth Nutcracker" at the Music Hall in downtown Portsmouth.

    

        SOLE CITY DANCE
                                           Friday, August 19, 2011 - 5 PM

Sole City Dance, formerly Arts Rochester, is a not-for-profit dance education center located in Rochester, NH.  Dedicated to developing technically proficient dance artists in a nurturing and non-competitive environment, SCD students study ballet, modern, contemporary jazz and theatre dance as well as hip hop and rhythm tap.  Sole City Dance is known for its annual Nutcracker produced at the Rochester Opera House and the spring Dance Rochester! Festival featuring dance companies and master teachers from around the region.  Sole City Dance offers programs for ages three and up and also features adult programs in yoga and ballroom dance.    

 

PORTSMOUTH SCHOOL OF BALLET
Saturday, August 20, 2011 - 3 PM

Portsmouth School of Ballet is dedicated to professional instruction with one-on-one attention. The program's focus in on Ballet Technique and the development of technical skills for each student. The school's Ballet program is based on a Vaganova syllabus. The school's faculty consists of professionals with extensive performing dance backgrounds as well as college degrees in Dance Education. Classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, modern, and street funk.
